the past decade, award-winning author and photographer Carolyn CJ Jones
has evolved from living on a sailboat to landlubber, married to single,
drinking to sober, nurse to author/photographer/publisher and finally,
from van living to homeowner. In the early 2000's, Carolyn traveled the
Western States and Mexico for three years while photographing dozens of
wrought-iron gates; she has hundreds of gate images from her journeys.
Photos from her
gate collection, along with accompanying prose, are published in her
book Opening the Gates of the Heart: A Journey of Healing. This is a
book of 42 photographs of gates, coupled with prose that describes Carolyn's
journey from feelings of worthlessness and deep despair to joy and peace.
